Declan’s Welcome Back To Atlanta

June 18, 2023 | Hannah Peña

A sunny Sunday gathered a crowd at The Eastern. The British singer-songwriter, Declan Mckenna, released his high-energy album “Zeros” in 2020 and could not wait to get back on the road, to bigger and better venues. The night consisted of the crowd singing along, a new song on the set list, and Declan giving it his all, even in the slow moments.

The French band Oracle Sisters started it off to get the crowd going. They first played “RBH”, a calm-indie song. Everyone swayed along and was mesmerized. The lead singer rocked a red button-down with white stripes, and the rest of the band wore white flowy clothing. The pink lighting took over the stage, and they went into “I Don’t Wanna Move.” Oracle Sisters could not contain their smiles and sang one of their more popular songs, “Asc. Scorpio.” Smiles shined on stage and in the crowd.

Half an hour after, Declan walked on stage and started with “The Kids Don’t Wanna Go Home.” The crowd erupted in screams and the room was shaking. Rocking a black button-down with bedazzled lighting bolts and beige jeans, his energy went from 100% to 1000% throughout the night. His energetic setlist consisted of “You Better Believe,” “Be An Astronaut,” “The Key To Life,” and a few more from his recent album. He also sang hits from his 2017 album “What Do You Think About The Car,” such as “Humongous,” “Make Me Your Queen,” and his most popular song “Brazil.” The British singer shredded his guitar and played his piano with all of his enthusiasm, and the intense lighting helped emulate his powerful songs.

A wonderful night to remember, Declan put on an amazing show. He and his band did an exceptional job of portraying his album in a live concert. The venue showed off his skills and there was no frown in sight. Make sure to catch Declan in your area if you’re looking for a memorable show.
